Munot - the landmark of Schaffhausen.
The Munot Fortress towers high above the city and the Rhine. The Munotglöggli is the tower bell of the fortress and is still rung by hand every evening at 9 p.m. The sound of the bell inspired Dr. Ferdinand Boumberger 1911 on the poetry of the “Song of Munotglöggli”. His work found its way into Swiss song and, like the daily ringing of the bell, has become dear to the people of Schaffhausen.
